The Redvers Fire Department is getting into the swing of Fire Prevention Week as they took their message to the school.

"We ran a program with the K-6 kids," shared Fire Chief, Brad Hutton. "We teamed up with Community Safety Net for safety books and colouring contests and escape routes for houses."

"We distributed those throughout the school. We're offering a colouring contest as well for the kids and the winner will get a free smoke detector."

The fire department also toured through a group for the daycare.

"We believe it's important. We always bring in full gear and masks and do a full dress-up and show kids what it would be like if you're ever in a fire situation to know what to expect and who to see coming to rescue them."

He added the kids were pretty excited to see the trucks and gear.

A Look Listen Learn Banner will be displayed in schools as well and then it will be moved to the rink. There will also be an on-ice ad with the Redvers Fire Department logo with the Look Listen Learn slogan for a year-round reminder.
