Crews have been busy in the City of Estevan, as they are turning their attention from clearing snow, to managing the now running water.

While the recent balmy weather was certainly a help when it came to getting ice off the streets, Roads and Drainage Manager Norm Mack says that it can pose problems as well.

"In most of the back lanes there was 12-16 inches of snow packed, and with these warm temperatures, we're going to experience a breaking up of that snow pack from vehicles."

"It's advisable that people park on their front driveway or avoid these back lanes for the next few days until some of this melts off or colder weather returns," he expressed.

He added that they are being proactive to ensure free drainage from the city.

"We have backhoes exposing culvert ends and digging out some of our major ditches. Crews are busy doing that right now just to get ahead of the game."

"We expect some of that water flow to start happening in the next few days," he concluded.
