Road bans in the RM of Estevan came off as of 11:00 am, Tuesday, May 1.

"Road bans are an annual thing in the spring," explained Reeve for the RM of Estevan, Terry Keating, "because as the frost and moisture comes out of the roads, they're soft. And so heavy vehicles are banned from one month to six weeks whatever the case is, according to the weather to keep them off to save the roads."

"The reason they're off now is because it's dry and the frost is basically out so we're not assuming there'll be much damage if any done to roads if everyone is back out hauling on them."

The dry conditions may have led to road bans being lifted but they could also lead to fire bans in the future.

"If it stays dry that topic will come up for sure, but nothing right now."
