The five hopefuls for the next leader of the Saskatchewan Party were in Estevan yesterday outlining what they would do for the southeast if they were leader of the party.

The candidates spoke after the luncheon about the opportunity to visit Estevan.

"It's my third time back here," shared Ken Cheveldayoff. "I met with some small business people and I'm really excited about the support here. I think people here understand the next premier has to have a rural background, has to have strength in urban Saskatchewan and has to have elected experience. And that's what I heard from the business community here today and that's what I;m all about so I'm very excited about my support in Estevan."

"It was great to be here, it was a packed room," explained Tina Beaudry-Mellor. "And the questions that we got from the Chamber members were actually really refreshing. We haven't had some of those questions before so it was nice to be able to talk about something that's very relevant to people who are actually sitting in the room today. So I really appreciated that and I want to thank the Chamber for that."

"It's been great," added Gordon Wyatt. "We've been down here three times now and we plan to come one more time. Coming to events like this so we can hear the issues again in a large group setting, the issue that are of concern to people in this area, I think is very very important. I find these to be very worthwhile.

"It's great to be down here to join the Chamber of Commerce here in Estevan," said Scott Moe. "I've been down here a number of times during this campaign and previous for things like the Carbon Capture and Storage Symposium that was hosted by the chamber. I appreciate all the people of Estevan that are engaging in this leadership race and engaging in choosing the next premier of our province."

"I'm really pleased to be here for the third time during the campaign," stated Alanna Koch. "And it was great to see such a full house so obviously lots of interest in the leadership race. I think the conversation was really good that I had around the room and I'm really glad I had an opportunity to answer all the questions I think, in a really effective way during the Chamber's event."

The candidates left shortly after the luncheon for a stop in Yorkton.
