Aimed at teens aged 14 to 17, the Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation Conservation Leadership Initiative takes off in the spring of 2019.

The program is aimed at those who may be interested in environmental conservation or management. It gives participants a chance to gain industry knowledge and explore a variety of conservation career opportunities.

SWF Executive Director Darrell Crabbe said, "We were trying to target the 14- to 16-year-old, or 14- to 17-year-old. We want them to still be in high school. We think they will become great mentors for the kids in their community. I think it's going to be a match made in heaven."

Crabbe said each program is a one-year program, and that if started in the spring the rest of the program could be completed by the end of the following school year.

Modeled after the Canadian Conservation Corps, the program is divided into 3 phases: outdoor adventure and education; field experience and leadership; and community engagement.
