Recent numbers released by the province shows that the population has grown once again. In fact, in the period of July 2016, to July 2017, the population grew by 15,337 people.

"Saskatchewan is the place to be at the moment," explained Economy Minister, Steven Bonk. "We're providing a great work life balance for people and we're finding that we have a lot of international immigration. People are coming here, coming to jobs and that bodes well for our province."

He adds that this shows an optimism that the economic downturn is coming to an end.

"All the economic indicators are pointing that way. And we look forward to doing our part to continue that growth. We have weathered the worst of the downturn and things are pointing in the right direction and we looking forward to continuing with the growth."

"Slowly things are turning around and like I said, all the economic indicators are starting to point in the right direction. So we feel that the worst is behind us and we're trying our best to do our part to make sure the economy moves forward. Unemployment numbers are remaining quite stable, in fact we're seeing that move also in a positive direction."

He mentions that this trend has been going up for awhile now.

"If you look at the trend-line, we're at 45 consecutive quarters of positive growth. If the trend-line continues, we're looking forward to more net immigration to Saskatchewan."

Over the last decade, Saskatchewan's population has grown from 1,002,048 to 1,163,925 people.
