Saskatchewan RCMP say they've ramped things up in several areas in preparation for marijuana becoming legal yesterday.

In a Tuesday release, the provincial RCMP said that as impaired driving continues to be an issue in Saskatchewan, they've been "working diligently with municipal, provincial, and federal partners to ensure officers are well-equipped to detect drug-impaired driving."

Saskatchewan RCMP plans to have over 100 Drug Recognition Experts on the force by the end of 2019.

Training to become a DRE is a month-long process, so there's a challenge sending an officer or two at a time.

In the province, over 100 RCMP officers are trained to administer Standardized Field Sobriety Tests.
