Today marked a milestone day in Saskatchewan on several fronts in the fight against COVID-19. Active cases, the daily new case count, and the seven-day average of daily new cases all hit their lowest mark in months. There were also no deaths reported today by the Saskatchewan Health Authority.

The SHA reported just 36 new cases of the virus in the province today for a total of 48,505. There were also 87 recoveries reported for a provincial total of 47,301. This leaves 639 active cases of COVID-19 in Saskatchewan.

Hospitalizations slightly rose today up to 79 from 76 (which was the lowest total since November 18). None of those hospitalizations are in the South East, however. The seven-day average of daily new cases is 67, the lowest that number has been since October 29.

Today's new cases are located in the following zones: Far North East, 3; North West, 2; North Central, 2; Saskatoon, 9; Regina, 11; South Central, 1; and South East, 6. There are two more cases with pending residence information.

While the South East did gain six cases today, none of those cases are in subzone South East 4, which includes Estevan. In fact, due to one recovery, Estevan's subzone is down to just one active case of the virus. There are 35 active cases in the South East overall.

Yesterday, the SHA processed 1,270 COVID-19 tests. They also administered 6,496 doses of COVID-19 vaccine for a total of 1,005,275.
