Saskatchewan had the highest increase in average weekly earnings among the provinces in may according to new figures recently released.

Earnings were up 5.8 percent year over year, far ahead of the national increase of 3.4 percent.

May’s average weekly earnings in the province were $1,070.11 (seasonally adjusted), the second-highest in the nation.

Industries with the highest year-over-year earnings growth were mining, oil, and gas (up 24.5 percent), health care and social assistance (up 14.3 percent) and arts, entertainment and recreation (up 6.1 percent).

The hard-working men and women of our province benefit from the rise in wages, which supports a better quality of life for Saskatchewan people.
