Solar power is one way SaskPower is hoping to meet emission reduction targets. 

This morning, they announced Saturn Power is the proponent of the province's first utility-scale solar power project.

The Crown power companty signed a twenty year prchase agreement with the Ontario company which will be built in the RM of Coulee, east of Swift Current. It is anticipated that the project will be in service as soon as the end of 2019. 

There were a total of 12 proposals submitted for the project. 

The next competitive process for another ten megawatts of solar power is planned for 2019.
