The United Way has reached their goal!

Estevan is often referred to as the Energy City, not only because of the power we create and supply to the rest of the province and country, but because of the energy the residents create in and around their community. 

Members from SaskPower were just at the Legion and they showed their commitment to the city and it's residents when they shared their donation of $115,366.50. 

Saskpower's Donation Of $115,366.50 Put The United Way Past Their $325,000 Goal.

Among the representative from SaskPower, was the director, Kevin Guillemin. He shared that most of the money raised was through payroll deductions where employees can choose to allocate a portion of their paycheque to go towards the United Way. Then, the corporate office will match those donations. As well, Shand employees, also held a bake sale with donated baked good which raised quite a bit of money for the Telethon as well.

He also shared that the employees at SaskPower were only too happy to share with the United Way. He said that many employees are also coaches and volunteers and even board members with the United Way. they love to support this community even after retirement. 

When Patrick Fisher, President of the United Way, read the total on the cheque, he added this really shows that we are the Energy City. 

With less than three hours to go, the United Way has officially surpassed their goal for 2017 with a total of $329,600. Stay tuned for the final amount which will be revealed around 5:00 pm tonight.
