Excitement is mounting for the 2017 Savour the Southeast fundraiser taking place in Estevan on May 13. The event which began last year is returning with an even bigger list of approximately 55 vendors attending the show.

James Jones, of the Estevan Kinsmen club, explains what people can expect this year.

"We're planning a bigger and better show than last year and everything is falling into place quite nicely. One of the noticeable differences is the show size has grown by about 20% so we're adding more vendors and more booths to the show. We've also changed the floor-plan to alleviate some of the traffic issues that we experienced last year. I think that it will be really well received by the Estevan community. "

Josh Leblanc, one of the organizers for the event, says the buzz is growing around the city.

"We're all getting very excited about it. It's just over a month away. Leading up until now, it was the bigger things that we were worrying about. Now it is the smaller details. It's about narrowing down everything that we need to do and getting it done."

Jones is also very excited for the fundraiser.

"People keep calling it the 'Premier event of Southeast Saskatchewan' and I think part of what is really exciting is that the money raised will stay here in Estevan. It will benefit a project that is near and dear to my heart. The Estevan Kinsmen and Kinettes are going to take the proceeds and put it towards our permanent outdoors sports facility at Kin Park. We're really hoping that we can break ground here in the near future and start to make this project a reality for the citizens of Estevan to use and enjoy"

Leblanc agreed that the project is going to be beneficial for the entire community

"It's a great capital project that Savour the Southeast is excited to be a part of. And we are happy to work for them and with them to make it happen."

Leblanc added that an endeavour like this requires a lot of work.

"It usually takes about 100 volunteers to make this thing go. Between the Kinsmen and the Kinettes, we are very lucky to be working with them this year. They have a large demographic that they can pull from."

Jones says that the Kinsmen have been overwhelmed with the positive response that they've received.

"Not only from the local Kinette club and the Kinsmen club, but we've also been approached by the roller derby club and they've graciously volunteered their services. But we are always looking to add to our volunteer list. If you want to help, you can email the Estevan Kinsmen at estevankinsmen@gmail.com"
