Estevan RCMP have arrested and charged a 43-year-old Estevan man with possession of property obtained by crime over $5000 as a result of a recent investigation.

"We received a complaint from a local company that they were missing some specialty pipe and reported it had been stolen," Estevan RCMP Corporal, Craig Park said. "We have had some previous problems out in the industrial park area. Through the investigation it was seen on video someone went into the site and removed the pipe which was built for a customer there."

"The investigation led to the recovery of the pipe at a local scrap yard, and at that time we were able to identify who sold the pipe to the scrap yard, and in turn that person has been arrested and since charged."

In the press release from the RCMP, it stated that the pipe was valued at $18,000.

"The pipe was built for the oil field specifically and it could have been devastating for the local company to have something like that stolen from them."

The 43-year-old's first court appearance is set for April 16, at 9:30 a.m. in Estevan Provincial Court.
