Safety has always been a concern for the City of Estevan, and Norm Mack the Roads and Drainage Manager gave us a good reminder.

"We are repainting the lane lines, just freshening them up. We do this 2 or 3 times a year, the paint we use, we have to meet Environment Canada regulations. Sometimes regulations are pretty stringent, and we are using the best paint available. But due to some of these pollution control measures that they have, the paint does tend to fade. We do apply 2 or 3 times on the lane lines."

"So you will see crews out on their paint cart today, and tomorrow, and possibly Friday. As far as crosswalks, turn arrows, and all that, its an ongoing process. And that happens throughout the summer, and their are a lot of crosswalks throughout the city."

"But we just ask that motorists reduce speed to 30 km/hr and their signed very well, and work zones are up. So just make sure you slow down for the people painting on the street."

"They're in their work zone, so the 30 km/hr signs are up and if you disobey them, its subject to speeding charges."
