The recent 20 centimeters of snow that fell to start the week has kept crews busy clearing it off the roads.

Ministry of Highways and Transport Communications Consultant Brandy Leippi says that snow removal is going well on their end.

"Our operators have been working 24 hours a day to clear the highways. They have put in some extra time with graders and blowers to address some of the snow drifts that are occurring in the area."

It's important to stay out of the way of the machinery, and Leippi shared some tips to be safe while driving in the vicinity of this equipment.

"As always, people should stay back. Don't pass going faster than 60 kilometers per hour."

"The snowplows pull over about every 10 kilometers or when it is safe to do so," she added.

"Just drive slow, and don't be in a rush."

All snow removal equipment now has flashing blue lights installed to warn drivers when they are in operation.
