The Estevan Lions Club engaged in the giving spirit in a major way recently, as they spread a variety of donations across the community.

Among the beneficiaries was the Southeast College, and the Manager of Marketing and Communications, Sheena Onrait, expressed their sentiments at receiving the $500.

"It's a tremendous honor to be chosen by the Lions Club. This is the first time that we have been picked out, so we are very pleased that they recognize the opportunity to donate funds to help students achieve their post-secondary goals and dreams."

"We actually match any donations from local organizations and businesses through the Saskatchewan Innovation and Opportunity Scholarship program. That $500 now becomes $1,000, and we use that money to create scholarships and bursaries for post-secondary students attending the Estevan campus," she explained.

"That's specifically what this donation is going to be for."

The full criteria for eligibility hasn't been fully worked out yet, however, Onrait said that this will be a new scholarship available for the 2017-18 academic year at the College.
