The southeast is once again battening down the hatches as we are in the path of another potentially severe thunderstorm.

"It looks like the pattern itself will get itself organized later this evening and overnight," explained Terri Laing with Environment Canada. "The low itself is going to get itself organized in southeastern Montana and lot of showers and thundershowers will develop in that low. And then slowly progress across North Dakota and what's going to happen is a lot of that thundershower activity is going to clip southeastern Saskatchewan and then move into Manitoba."

"We are seeing a risk of severe weather for the extreme southeastern corner of province late tonight and then overnight."

"Estevan is part of that, it is included in the risk of severe weather and with respect to that severe weather, we're looking at a possibility of strong winds, large hail and torrential downpours."

"When we talk about large hail, we usually talk about quarter size or larger which can do quite a bit of damage, especially to crops. Much larger hail can do quite a bit of damage to buildings and windows and sidings and vehicles."

She added that the risk of a tornado is farther south so we are not expecting tornadic activity this time.

"The danger here is that most of this activity is going to happen in the overnight period. People should go to bed tonight knowing that possibility does exist."

After just going through a similar situation recently, most people have a heightened sensitivity to severe storms.

"I think there's a heightened awareness but people should use that heightened awareness to have a plan in mind and know what to do if severe weather does hit."

She suggested downloading the SaskAlert app which is free. It can provide quick updates should a storm hit. She also advises taking in patio furniture and other items in your yard.
