Spring road bans will come into effect overnight.

“We temporarily suspended road bans on provincial highways to let farmers and truckers haul legal weights on secondary weight provincial highways,” Highways and Infrastructure Minister David Marit said. “We are resuming road bans in order to protect these highways for all road users.”

The Ministry of Highways released the following statement:

"Road bans will be in effect as of 12 a.m., Monday, April 9 across southern Saskatchewan and the Kindersley, North Battleford and Saskatoon areas.  Road bans are also in effect in many Rural Municipalities in these areas.  Road bans are expected to be implemented across the remainder of the province on April 16."

"Spring road bans restrict the amount of weight trucks can haul on many secondary weight highways across the province.  The difference between spring weights and normal secondary weights is about 10 to 1percentnt, depending on truck configuration."

"The weight restrictions are implemented each spring to protect roads from truck damage."
