A severe wind storm blew through the Coronach area Monday evening, taking down nearly 65 power poles.

A strong gust of wind known as a plough wind is what SaskPower believes took down the poles just north of the small town.

The area most affected seems to be the Poplar River Mine, the surface coal mine, which suffered extensive damage to its power lines and will be running off of their back up generator for the time being, with no estimated time for repairs being given.

SaskPower is not aware of any other affected customers and continues to assess the damage.
