The Home Hardware Canada Cup is the event to be talking about in the Energy city right now, but have you seen the kids from all over the Southeast marching in with teachers.

Holding signs, ringing bells, and cheering on the sidelines as their favorite Curling teams from across Canada battle against each other for the top places. Executive Director of Curl Sask Ashley Howard, "I'm here with Canada Cup running the school program, helping out the host committee and we've got 1200 kids coming in from around the surrounding area. We're getting them jacked up and excited, and sending them back to school for those poor teachers."

"A lot of our local sponsors with CurlSask have stepped up and given us some prizes, 3 Farmers one of them handing out some healthy snacks. For the kids, we've got some little bracelets, mittens coming as well, little water bottles, and we just kind of up the anty as the game goes on to keep the kids excited," as the kids cheered loudly in the background.

Howard continues, "Yeah, so Curling Canada brought in Slider, that's the official mascot of Curling Canada, super cute Rock Mascot and the kids are loving him. He's a bit of a goof."

As for the curling itself, Howard added, "I absolutely love this, for my perspective I've come through the game as a player on the ice. That's so cool, but to expose these kids to it, I realize that's what its really all about. The bump in the junior program after the Tankard last year is the most important part of hosting these events. Exposing more kids and having more youth curling, that's what we're all about."
