More than just an online survey, Our School Survey is a powerful evaluation instrument that provides a complete solution to inform school improvements.

Vice Principal Loni Hollingshead, "The survey is for our grade 4 to 6 students, asking various questions about their school life, their environment, playground, etc. The data can be categorized by gender or specific grade, and then our staff takes a look at it in chart form. And from there we make our School Improvement Plan from what the students tell us."

"You know we have had everything from them wanting an airplane for the school, to you know common sense things like bigger boot rooms, and those kinds of things in our school. Some are very unrealistic and some we do take into consideration and do the very best we can,"

Spruce Ridge has been doing this for 4 years now, and each year they implement some great ideas from the students. Hollingshead shares an example, "I believe one year we had our grade 7/8 students and middle year kids wanted more equipment on our playgrounds. So we worked with our school community council, and money was raised and equipment was purchased for our playground. And if you go out there, kids are using it and that's what they asked for and so that's wonderful to see."

"Our School Survey has always given us a plan and things we can improve on."

The survey has been apart of the Southeast Cornerstone School Division for a few years, and students appreciate the fact that their ideas are being used moving forward in the improvement of schools in our area.
