It was nice while it lasted. The balmy weather that the southeast has been enjoying for the past couple weeks is expected to cool down by the weekend.

Environment Canada Regional Meteorologist John-Paul Cragg said that this is due to some low pressure systems making their merry way through the southern half of the province again, however, the change won't be anything drastic.

"With these systems passing through the U.S., there could be a little bit of precipitation in southeastern Saskatchewan, including a chance of freezing drizzle. By the end of the week, cold Arctic air is going to be dragged into the province behind these lows, dropping temperatures off to near average for this time of year."

"That colder air could stick around potentially through the first week of March," he added.

Cragg expressed that, with rain and cooling temperatures in the forecast, roads could become pretty slick.

"Any wet pavement and sidewalks will freeze and cause poor travel conditions, so it's important to be careful," he concluded.
