Not the time of year where we are thinking about swimming outside, but Midale is busy fundraising for their community pool. The Midale swimming pool has been upgrading its facilities over the past few years. With fundraisers and donations, the town of Midale will be opening their outdoor pool a month earlier than normal.

Joleen Tuchscherer the administrator for the Town of Midale, "This is the first year we are planning to open the pool for June 1st, this is to allow the school to utilize our pool for lessons, year-end swims, parties that sort of thing."

The fundraisers that the residents are currently participating in Tuchscherer says, "A couple of the fundraisers we have on the go right now are the Chase the Ace draw, and our progressive jackpot is already over $500. And our draws are every Tuesday over at the local Harry O' Memorial Arena. Our next fundraiser coming up were having a pie auction and pot luck supper and its happening in Macoun on April 17th." The funds will be used to upgrade the pool, pay for staff, and perhaps expansion, "The last one we have planned right now is going to be on June 22nd, and its in conjunction with the library. They will be holding their library kick off and they will be bringing in a magician and a BBQ that will be at the pool. This will help kick off the summer."

Why the town has upgraded their pool Tuchscherer shares, "A couple of years ago it was to the point it couldn't be opened anymore, so a group of local people took up the daunting task to raise funds to upgrade the facility so we could open it and be open to Midale and all of its residents and surrounding community."

The community has seen a lot of growth and new families continue to move in. Tuchscherer shares why they continue to fund-raise, "I know that our numbers have doubled with swimming lessons, general admissions, and family passes throughout the day. And its definitely being used more and more every year. And that's why we're planning on opening it a little sooner to provide a few more opportunities."
