The future of Savour the Southeast is still up in the air as the organizing committee is still looking to find a new group to host the event. They recently hosted an informational meeting for interested groups looking to take up the challenge.

"We had about five groups show up," organizer, Josh LeBlanc. "They expressed interest in hosting SavourSoutheastteast after we did a call for other members or other agencies to take over the event."

"Then we laid out the planning timeline, all the other information that goes into putting the event on including the financial picture as well."

Groups have until  September 21st to indicate whether or not they are interested in going ahead with organizing the event.

"By September 24th, we will put all the groups that are interested and then we'll do a lottery system to see what group gets it."

The current organizing committee indicated recently that they would be taking a step back from planning the event.

"We've done it for three years now. One thing we are very cognizant of is the fact that we believe the show will benefit from some fresh ideas, a new perspective. The majority of us, from the current organizing committee, are willing to stay on and help with the support and transition role, but in terms of the actual planning of the show, and changes, we'll be removed from that and we'll leave that up to the new organization."

LeBlanc added that he is hopeful that the show will go on and judging by the attendance of the meeting, it is likely. However, a lot of work needs to be done before it can be confirmed.
