The Souris Valley Theatre had a busy 2018, Robert Godfrey the President of the Theatre, "2018 was an exciting year for the Souris Valley Theatre. We had 2 really well received plays, Leanne Minogues "Homecomeing" and Maureen Ulrich's "Pirate Heart". And then of course we had our 2 fantastic musical performances, we had Tenille Arts to kick off our season, and then we also had the Peterson and the Daae families come to perform for a sold out crowd at our theatre. So all in all 2018 was just a fantastic year for us down at the Souris Valley Theatre."

While asking Robert his highlights, "This year a big highlight for the theatre was our crowd, we have had some hard times since the flooding in 2011, which closed us down for a couple of years. We've workied really hard for the past couple of years, since we re-opened, we've been growing our crowds. This year we had amazing crowds, everyone was very engaging. They loved the performances, and as a part of the board, it is just so rewarding to be able to see our audinece leave the theatre at the end of the night and say it was awesome. And I would say that would be one of the top feelings for me, as part of the board to see the community respond to one of our events."

Looking forward to 2019, Godfrey had some exciting news to add, "Well, next year is a very exciting year for us, 2019 is an anniversary for us. It is our 30th anniversary, and so we're working on some really fun things to make this a big season. But obviously, we have a lot of work ahead of us. We are going to be working on some fundraising, we have had some cuts financially in looking forward to 2019. So we will be working really hard on bringing in some extra dollars to improve our program and make sure we can have a very exciting 30th anniversary. Bring in more concerts, bring in great plays, and celebrate 30 years of live, professional theatre in Estevan."

In true fashion of a President of any organization, Godfrey had to thank all those who made this year possible. "Well, I would just like to thank everyone who came out to our theatre and enjoyed our program. Who gave us feedback, and have already contacted us for the 2019 season. It was a great year, if anyone has any suggestions for what they would like to see for our anniversary year, please let us know now. You can contact us on Facebook or by phone at 306-461-6869, let us know your thoughts. We would love to make sure that we are bringing in the best entertainment that everyone can enjoy."

30 years of theatre in the Energy City, something to look forward to in the new year.
