At City Council's regular meeting Monday night, two boards needed people on it from the public at large - and the results were so close there were multiple ballots needed.

It took three votes for Josh LeBlanc and Michelle Graff to be chosen for the police board members at large and it took a second ballot for Monica Kovach, Kevin Smith and Bernadette Wright to be selected as members at large for the city's remuneration board.

"We're happy that so many took an interest to take time out of their busy schedules for both the police board and remuneration," said Mayor Roy Ludwig. As you can tell, this was not agreed on before...

"We thank absolutely all of the applicants and the successful ones we congratulate. We know they'll all do a great job."

It was the first time Ludwig could recall those board votes going to more than one ballot.

"The police maybe once went to a second but in my time I can never recall a third," he said.

It's budget season again and the document will be released Tuesday morning on the city's website.

Ludwig would like to see a special meeting of council leading into the passing of the budget since there won't be any council meetings until Feb 11.

"We'll talk to council some more, and see their availability but I think it warrants a special meeting for the budget so we'll see if we'll do that," said Ludwig.

The next meeting of council will be going up against the Saskatchewan Urban Municipalities Association's annual meeting.

"I would suggest maybe the middle of February and get good feedback," he said.
