The Wawota Town Council recently met on Tuesday evening and while it wasn't a big agenda, there were still important matters to discuss.

"We're working on the budget now that the provincial budget came down," explained Cheryle DeRoo, Administrator for the Town of Wawota. "There wasn't a big effect on us except in our revenue sharing. We lost about $8,000 compared to last year."

"We always have to cut something to make it balance. We just have to prioritize what we want to do. We have a grant project in the works that we will be tendering right away here through the CWWF program."

That project is for a sewer lift upgrade.

"We hope to do some regular water line replacements to keep that going."

The lack of snow has also allowed them to save some money this winter.

"Our fuel bill reflects that. That is where we probably see our biggest savings."

Next council meeting will be on May 15th.
