With the weather we're getting, drivers are being reminded to take a few minutes to prepare themselves and their vehicles before heading out on the road

"I think with the warmer weather," shared Fire Chief Dale Feser, "people tend to let their guard down. There are icy sections on the city streets so we want to make sure everyone is exercising extreme caution and taking a little extra time to arrive at their destination."

"The temperatures can fluctuate quite a bit this time of the year. You don't want to get caught unaware and unprepared."

He added that now is the time to pack an emergency kit for your vehicle. Blankets, candles, water or electrolyte drinks and protein bars are all excellent items to add to the kit.

You should also check you the five-day forecast as well as the Highway Hotline before heading out.
