While previous police reports frequently relate a 'quiet evening' for the Estevan Police Service, Sunday's nightshift was a bit of an exception.

There were nothing of a criminal nature to handle that night, nevertheless, according to Sergeant Craig Bird a couple incidents took up the majority of their time.

"We ended up dealing with a minor accident on the city's north side in a residential area. A person had backed out of their residence and hit a parked car. Fortunately, there were no injuries and just minor damage to the vehicle, so we just had the owners exchange information and nothing else was required on our end."

He also reported that they received a call from EMS, who needed assistance in gaining entrance to an apartment building.

"By the time we got over there to help them out, somebody had let them and they were able to deal with their matter without our intervention."

Bird also brought up the fact that the light snow and cool temperatures covering the ice on the road has made for a slick trek to work.

During Sunday's dayshift, police received an RID (Report Impaired Drivers) call in relation to a grey Nissan car leaving a local liquor establishment. However, they were not given a specific license plate number and were unable to locate the vehicle, despite quite a few patrols.

Officers were dispatched to a possible domestic dispute, however, upon arrival it was not clear whether an assault had actually taken place. The matter remains under investigation.

A custody matter was also mediated by police.
