Curiosity has piqued for many as the Kenosee Superslides have not been able to open as early as they hoped.

Management says the reasoning from the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) isn't clear.

The recording on the park's voicemail said they have still not received an operating license from the provincial government but can't explain the reason why. It adds that they haven't been given a "clear reason" for the "extremely long delay," but said it was due to circumstances outside their control until "apparent issues" are resolved.

Jan Armstrong, who is a co-owner of the park with his father Harvey, answered questions live on the park's Facebook page on Tuesday.

The first question asked why they're still closed.

"From my perspective, the reason we're not open is because the Sask Health Authority has not given us our business license yet," Armstrong said. "That is the bare bones of it. I can get into it more, but without causing us more heat than we've already got with Sask Health Authority, I can't do more than that."

The SHA has been reached out to for comment.

Last year the park was forced to close on August 20 due to safety concerns. They were able to partially reopen on August 26.

Armstrong said on the Facebook stream that they've been given a passing grade by a fiberglass expert for safety.

"We have the head of Sask Polytech's plastics and fiberglass division doing another check of our park. And he's given the green light. He gave us a few things we could fix, which we have done. But he's checking our fiberglass, and he has checked this entire park foot for foot, all the fiberglass, and has given us a reasonably good green light about how well we're maintaining our slides. We don't know why we're not open."

The video has over 300 comments and 24,000 views. There's also a petition on Change.org with over 1,700 signatures to "save our slides."

The park is honouring any tickets purchased on the day of the customer's choice and asks anyone looking for a refund to contact the park through their website.
