Estevan United Way hosted their 41st year of the 33-hour telethon in October of 2017. During the telethon over $358,000 was raised, smashing their goal of $325,000.

"The funds were spent in advance, we purchased a vehicle. That's what we requested the money for, we do so many out of town trips for medical and we have a fleet of vehicles but they kind of wear out. We're just trying to get rid of the ones with the most mileage that aren't road worthy and kind of move them around the agency, so we purchased a new one that will be used for out of town medical," explained Carol Cundall the Executive Director of the Estevan Diversified Services.

"Without the United Way we wouldn't be able to purchase those vehicles, that's huge I mean transportation is critical in Estevan."

"All our medical tends to be in Regina, all the specialist appointments we do. We have individuals who are medically fragile and we have to get them to the services they need and so we're finding that we're doing a lot more trips to the city. This way we have a really good road worthy vehicle that we don't have to worry about."
