The United Way kicked off their 2017 Telethon with the ECS Jazz Band before the Opening Ceremonies took place.

"Everyone, we are excited to be opening up the 41st annual Telethon," shared Scott Harrison, MC for the event. "We're coming to you live from the Royal Canadian Legion on 4th Street in Estevan. We're just really excited to be here, our theme this year is United Through Adversity. Our whole purpose for being together is to raise $325,000 to give to our 15 Member Agencies, people who help people in adversity."

"With the way things are right now, we know that these have been lean years and we are always very grateful to Estevan and surrounding area that no matter how much adversity we're going through as a community, we're always there to help others who are in need and that's our whole purpose here."

Dignitaries and partners were then introduced.

The MP for Souris Moose Mountain, Robert Kitchen was in attendance and shared his thoughts on the event. MLA for Estevan, Lori Carr and Mayor of Estevan, Roy Ludwig also brought their greetings.

The current total is $10, 320.
