Hot and tasty meals continue to be served for folks on these cold winter nights. Tuesday night was the latest evening, and Kitchen Coordinator Christina Farquar was pleased with the outcome.

"We find that, when it's cold out, the numbers are down, but we had 35 people last night, so it was actually very nice," she shared, adding that their special was a hearty vegetable soup.

For Farquar and all the volunteers that pitch in to make each night happen, it's not simply a couple hours of dedication.

"I'm shopping by twelve o clock, and we're usually in the kitchen by one o clock for serving at 5:30, so with clean up and everything it's a full day job."

She mentioned that the numbers have been as low as in the twenties in the extreme cold, and as high as the sixties in the mild weather.

Held every Tuesday and Thursday evening, they rotate between Salvation Army and St. Paul's United Church respectively. However, this Thursday will be an exception, with the food being served back at the Salvation Army.
