The Warm Welcome Kitchen has wrapped up their 2018 year with a new Kitchen Coordinator, Christa Jorgensen.

Jorgensen recaps her first fall with the Warm Welcome Kitchen, "Ah it was really good, I had a lot of people volunteer, we had lots of donations to help keep the program going and keep me going."

They run on a volunteer base, "From all over the community, a lot of volunteers from churches too. People come and volunteer their time as they have heard about it over the radio or read it in the paper. Volunteering has shown great support for the community."

Jorgensen adds they have a few regular people who come in to help, "Through the fall, about 8 different people have come out. I have a few ladies who consistently come out, which is amazing. We could always use more help, to let them have a break as well. We have had people from Living Hope, Trinity Lutheran, and people from our own Warm Welcome Kitchen group, they help share recipes as well as help with cooking. We had the Air Cadets come out one Tuesday and do a pancake breakfast for everybody."

After asking what Jorgensen's highlight has been so far, "One of our members that regularly come out has been really sick, and everyone kept praying for him. He finally showed up for a meal and everyone was very glad to see him return. He still comes consistently now that he's out of the hospital. That was one of the great memories that I had."

As a result of the donations that have come forward, the crew has been able to cook a variety of meals, "We've done meatball subs, lasagna, I made my broccoli surprise which I thought no one would like but they all enjoyed that. Cabbage rolls recently and just whatever comes to mind and is on sale."

"We appreciate the support, and its nice around Christmas but it should be all year round." Jorgensen reminds the community.

Support a great cause and help out the Warm Welcome kitchen this 2019 season.
