Enjoy the sunshine while it lasts. Because more snow is on the way.

"It does appear," shared Heather Pimiskern, with Environment Canada, "that there will be another system from the US that will affect the Estevan area beginning Thursday evening."

"It does look as though there might be rain or a rain-snow mixture to begin on that Thursday evening but it should transition to snow overnight into Friday. And there is a possibility of another 2-5 cm with this system."

She added that while snow in October isn't abnormal, what is, are the low temperatures.

"Normally for this time of year, Estevan is sitting about 15oC and, as you very well know, temperatures have hovered around maybe, 5 -7 degrees which is about 10 degrees below normal. And the reason for that is the upper-level pattern that we're experiencing is drawing colder air from the Arctic southward into the prairies. As a result, we are experiencing below normal temperatures."

Unfortunately, those temperatures are expected to below normal for the next two weeks.
