After some limited clearing to start the week, smoke from forest fires has slipped back to cover the province but Environment Canada says there is a chance that we could see some better conditions in the near future.

A change in the weather is moving over the province to end the work week according to Environment Canada's Terri Laing. "That smoke is still floating around and it will get worse before it gets better, just because of so many fires burning."

"It also looks like we're looking at a massive weather change coming on the weekend," continued Laing. "We have a big upper trough over western Canada and what that does is it brings cooler weather and a chance at some precipitation, something we haven't seen for a while."

The latest forecast is showing that new system could slide into the area Friday night and into Saturday morning with showers starting to develop Sunday or Monday for the southeast region.
