There could be some strong winds and possible flurries heading our way.

"We have a low pressure system that's moving into the province," explained Robyn Dyck, regional meteorologist with Environment Canada. "It's more going to affect more through the central area and then diving south by Estevan by Wednesday night. On the backside of this low, we do have some strong winds that will be coming in. Because it's maybe late Wednesday, overnight, there's less impact with people sleeping. But then early Thursday, it looks like it could still be fairly windy like 50 gusting to 70 potentially."

She did note that because the forecast is further in the future, the certainty isn't as great.

"But it is a far ways out so the forecast will change, the weather will change so it's a good idea to be up to date and watch the website for the new updates."

"The thing about this time of year is the temperatures are really near zero so that makes things really tricky. The snow right now in the forecast is for Thursday and that's quite far in terms of trying to decide whether it's rain or snow. So our forecast right now says rain or snow and the wind. It's really tough to be able say this far out where exactly that zero degree line will be and what the precipitation falling out of the sky will be. It's one of the toughest forecast challenges we have."

"Right now it does look like it will be the Thursday morning, it won't be any accumulations, maybe some light flurries for Thursday morning. The more accumulations will be in central Saskatchewan but we're not talking about any warnings. Right now we're forecasting about 2-4 cms for Meadow Lake."

She added that it is too hard to call whether we care going to get snow or rain for Thursday.

"You're going to get something. It's going to be windy, you're going to get some kind of precipitation."

The Estevan Fire Department is also asking residents not to conduct any controlled burns during windy conditions.
