The odorless, colorless gas known as Carbon Monoxide also goes by another moniker, namely, the "Invisible Killer". This is because it can sneak up on you, often released by improperly used appliances, and not be seen or smelled. Thus the reason why it is important that every residence has a CO alarm armed and ready to alert them at any moment.

The Estevan Fire Department stresses the importance of responding immediately to that alarm, and Fire Chief Dale Feser explained what you should do in the event that it goes off.

"You never want to take the chance that it is just a dead battery or faulty detection device. You want to make sure you get all the occupants out of the home, and safely wait outside"

He also revealed what the signs would be if someone was experiencing CO poisoning.

"They actually look very similar to the flu. You're going to be nauseous and have a headache. However, the the biggest tell-tale sign is very cherry-red skin through the neck and up into the face."

He expressed that it is important to get medical attention if those symptoms arise.
