For the third straight year, the Estevan Humane Society's Whiskers and Wine Gala grew in size Saturday night. The gala fundraiser drew out a crowd of over 150 people with dinner, a great local act performing in Hook & Nail, another great act from western Canada in JJ Voss, fantastic donations of art for a live auction, as well as some items donated from around many local businesses, all in an effort to make it a better support the Humane Society.

Hook and Nail is still riding the release of their latest album in September of 2018, which hit #4 on SaskMusic's Best Saskatchewan Album of 2018. As for JJ Voss, he's been all over Western Canada, including playing shows at the Craven Country Jamboree, and opening for Travis Tritt when he played his show in Estevan.

For the auction and silent auction, plenty of handmade art pieces, photography, and quilts were donated, as well as seeing some help from the Estevan Cheerleading squad to help with serve at the event.

Estevan's Humane Society is one of only three non-kill shelters in the province, meaning that there's an extra cost to running the shelter and holding more pets, only euthanizing them when absolutely necessary to protect the wellbeing of the animals around it or to end the suffering of that animal. If you want to donate towards the Humane Society or want to help out, you can find out more information at the Estevan Humane Society's Website.

Numbers on what the Humane Society raised will come out as soon as those stats are available.
