The residents of White Bear First Nations are getting closer to a reliable source of good, clean water.

"The water treatment upgrade is in full swing," explained Chief, Nathan Pasap. "They have the building erected and putting in the electrical and the piping."

"We have Hipperson Construction building it for White Bear First Nations and we're looking forward to it being operational within the next, hopefully, six months."

Pasap added this facility will drastically improve the lives of the members of the community.

"We've been under a boil water advisory for a number of years and the quality of water has been very poor, really dense in minerals so there's been a lot of mineral build up. However, as of late, we've been putting in some filtration to help with the mineral content. It helped actually, quite a bit. Those units were put into each of the homes to deal with the mineral deposits and other water issues that we've had."

He added that this is only a temporary fix until the treatment plant is completed.

"That way we will ensure our members of White Bear have good clean water for their kids to bathe in, and use, and cook and clean with."
