A Brandon, Manitoba company was been fined $140,000 following their guilty plea in Carlyle Provincial Court on January 24, 2018. 

Brad Hammond Construction Ltd. pleaded guilty to one count of failing to ensure that workers use a fall protection system at a work area. The accident resulted in a man being paralyzed after falling off a roof at a work-site near Arcola, SK.

The fine handed down consisted of a $100,000 fine plus a $40,000 surcharge. One other charge was stayed in court.

The accident occurred on July 18, 2016, and Occupational Health and Safety was notified that an incident that occurred on July 25, 2016.
