The Youth Fitness Boot Camp this summer had a great turn out with a total of 20 participants. The camp ran for a week in July and a week in August and ran for 2 hours each day with a meal provided.

"Our main focus was showing kids the proper components of a work out are that being a warm-up, the actual exercise, proper cooldown and stretch. We also showed them how to make exercising fun and some of the benefits that come with that," explained Carrie Frostad, Fitness Instructor for the Leisure Centre.

"Statistics show kids that do work out have a peaceful balance, they do better in school, sports and mentally they are a lot more confident and calm."

"If students are partaking in any school sport, then going to these type of camps would help to condition them for that. It also helps to focus students a bit better mentally as well as statistics show that kids who are physically active have higher grades in school."

She also mentioned they are thinking of doing some classes in the fall for youth fitness.
