In just over two months, the city of Estevan will welcome in 16 of the top men's curling rinks in Saskatchewan for the 2018 SaskTel Tankard to be played inside Affinity Place from January 31st - February 4th.
And one of those teams won't even have to travel, as Brent Gedak's rink curling out of the Power Dodge Curling Centre in Estevan has already qualified for the Tankard!
It will be the 15th experience at the men's provincial curling championship for Gedak, and he's hoping that home ice can help get his team to win the Tankard and punch his first ticket to compete in the Brier, the national men's championship being held this year in Regina.
"When you play that local team and the crowd goes wild when a shot is made, we're the team that has never had that in the last 14 years," expressed Gedak on Sun102 Wednesday morning. "So I hope this is our time, we can make some great shots and get the crowd into it, and hopefully win this year."
Estevan is getting swept up in the curling fever, and they can enjoy watching Gedak, Lampman's Mark Walters, and 12 other teams this weekend during the Saskatchewan Curling Tour which takes place from December 1st to 3rd in Estevan.
And don't wait! GET YOUR TICKETS TO THE 2018 SASKTEL TANKARD!
