As the CPKC Holiday Train approaches its eagerly awaited stop in Estevan, the excitement is palpable, with country artists Dallas Smith and Mackenzie Porter set to take the stage. This annual tradition not only brings a festive atmosphere to the community but also provides a crucial opportunity for locals to contribute to the Salvation Army Food Bank in Estevan.

Ronza Reynard, the Community Ministries Director of the Salvation Army Food Bank, expressed her enthusiasm for the upcoming event, stating, "It's really great to have the holiday train come through Estevan every year." She highlighted the uniqueness of this annual visit, emphasizing that not all communities have the privilege of hosting the Holiday Train regularly.

For Estevan, the Holiday Train is more than just a spectacle; it's a vital lifeline for the local food bank. Reflecting on the challenges faced this year, Reynard provided insights into the Food Bank's tireless efforts, revealing, "Our food bank is very busy, and we've seen close to 3000 people this year come through the food bank. We’ve given away over 65,000 lbs of food. So it's busy. The need is there, and we're happy that we're able to help people."

Highlighting specific needs, Reynard pointed out, "Right now, I would say we're looking for pasta and rice. Cereal is a big thing that we run out of, any canned goods. But I would definitely say rice and pasta at this very moment." She also emphasized the importance of checking expiration dates on donations, ensuring they remain useful for those in need.

Acknowledging the ongoing Kettle Campaign, Reynard provided details for those interested in contributing, stating, " We still have quite a few open shifts this week, this weekend, and throughout next week, and we're at 3 locations." Those interested are asked to contact (306) 634-2074.

With the CPKC Holiday Train scheduled to make a stop in Estevan on December 17, the community eagerly anticipates a festive and charitable gathering. Residents look forward to enjoying the musical performances while contributing to the Salvation Army Food Bank's ongoing mission to support those in need during the holiday season.
