The Estevan Bruins jersey auction brought in a good amount of money with an excellent turnout from the home crowd.

The live auction of six jerseys brought in $9,700, and the online auction brought in $5,590. In total, the event brought in $15,290.

Robert Godfrey, game day operations of the Estevan Bruins said they were really happy with how the auction went this year.

“It is an awesome fundraiser for the Estevan Bruins and people really came out and supported us once again and I think everyone's really excited who bid on and won a jersey to get these great looking grey third jerseys,” said Godfrey.

Cameron Hrdlicka had the highest bid at $2,600 and Keagon Little’s Jerseys brought in $1,750 respectively.

Carter Onrait’s jersey went for $2,000 with the proceeds going back to the Kinsmen Rink.

Godfrey said that the Bruins started a partnership with the Kinsmen several years ago when they were building a rink.

“At that time they had special third jerseys that were designed just for that rink. That is just kind of a continuation of that fundraising partnership.”

He added that they will be continuing the format moving forward. They will be donating one jersey a year from the live auction to donate back to the Kinsmen.

“We’re really happy to partner with local organizations and this is a perfect fit for the Estevan Bruins because obviously, so many players utilize that outdoor rink in the winter.

The remaining funds will be going back into the Bruins Scholarship Fund.

Godfrey said that the program has been an integral part of the Bruins for many years.

“It allows us to award scholarships to our players to pursue post-secondary education after their hockey career with the Bruins is over,” said Godfrey. “We really like seeing these great fundraisers because we know that it just goes back directly to the future of the players.”

He added that the night would be possible without the help of Mack Auction company who had taken the reins on the live auction portion of the evening, and Finning Cat who sponsors the Bruin's third jersey every year, which allows the continuation of the annual event.
