One person is dead and two are in custody following an investigation that spanned many locations including the Oxbow landfill.

Carlyle RCMP were alerted on Wednesday, April 24 of a potential homicide. The case was quickly handed to the Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes Unit who started their investigation at the Oxbow landfill, where no human remains were found.

The following day around noon, the remains of a woman were located in a rural area of the RM of Moose Mountain, and her death was ruled a homicide.

RCMP do not believe that there are additional victims.

Tyler Shaw, 27 years old, from Gainsborough, SK has been arrested and charged with accessory after the fact to murder.

A second male was taken into custody this afternoon (April 25) in Oxbow. Charges for the unnamed suspect haven’t been released.

Shaw is expected to appear in Regina Provincial Court tomorrow (April 26).

Residents on White Bear First Nation and in the RM of Moose Mountain and Oxbow may continue to see an increased police presence in relation to this ongoing investigation.
