People living in Wolseley and the surrounding area will have improved access to emergency health care services starting February 26.

The Saskatchewan Health Authority will partially resume emergency room services at Wolseley Memorial Integrated Care Centre.

In the first phase of the gradual reopening, the ER will be open Monday through Friday only from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Emergency room services will not be available after-hours, on weekends, or statutory holidays. Acute care services remain unavailable at this time.

“The re-opening of the Wolseley Memorial Integrated Care Centre ER would not have been possible without the innovative problem-solving of local team members and the partnership and support of the Town of Wolseley and the Ministry of Health,” said Brenda Schwan, Vice President of Integrated Rural Health for the Saskatchewan Health Authority, “This is an occasion to celebrate this progressive first step toward fulfilling the SHAs commitment to restoring emergency and acute care services in Wolseley. The SHA also appreciates the patience and understanding of the community as we worked to reach this milestone.”

The partial resumption of ER services was made possible through the recruitment of staff to the community.

“On behalf of Wolseley Town Council and myself, I would like to express our excitement around the resumption of limited emergency services in the community," said Gerry Hill, Mayor of Wolseley, "The successful execution of the phased opening plans for the Wolseley Hospital is the result of extensive collaboration and hard work from various stakeholders, including the Ministry of Health, the SHA management team, WMICC employees, your local municipal members, and the general public.”
