Spring is in full swing, and the Estevan Public Library (EPL) is buzzing with activity as it unveils a lineup of engaging programs for April. Branch Manager Jason Redshaw shared insights into the upcoming events during a recent interview on SUN 102, highlighting opportunities for community involvement and enrichment.

Kicking off the month with an exhilarating Easter-themed adventure, the EPL presents an Easter Escape Room experience suitable for all ages. "The Easter Bunny decided to set up an escape room here at Estevan Public Library for adults, teens, and tweens," Redshaw explained. Families are welcome to join in the fun, but spots are filling up quickly, so interested participants are encouraged to reserve their slots promptly.

One of the highlights of April is the eagerly anticipated Spring Book Sale, scheduled to commence on Thursday, April 25, and run until Sunday, April 28. Redshaw described it as a treasure trove for book lovers, featuring a vast collection of books, DVDs, puzzles, and board games. Moreover, on the final day of the sale, attendees can take advantage of tote bags available for purchase and fill them up for just $5.

In addition to the book sale, the EPL invites creative minds to participate in the Edible Book Contest on April 11. Contrary to its name, the contest revolves around culinary creations inspired by literature. "If you have a book about food or you are reading and there's an interesting dish that comes out of the book; basically you put it together, post a picture of it, and then we're going to be voting for it," Redshaw elaborated. The contest promises a delightful fusion of literature and gastronomy.

Furthermore, the library offers an opportunity for art enthusiasts to contribute to its programming through a Silent Art Auction scheduled for May. Redshaw shared details about the event, highlighting its dual format—both online and within the library premises. "You can donate any sort of art—paintings, carvings, photos, anything like that," he explained. The auction not only supports the library but also provides artists with a platform to showcase their talents and engage with the community.

As April unfolds, the Estevan Public Library beckons residents to immerse themselves in a world of literary adventures, artistic endeavours, and culinary creations. Whether attending events or contributing to the library's initiatives, there's something for everyone to enjoy and participate in this spring season.
