Cookies, fuel, and donation cards - oh my!

For the third year, Southern Plains Co-op raised just shy of $13,000 in support of the STARS Air Ambulance.

"Again, we saw some overwhelming support from our members, staff, and customers because I think we can all agree that STARS is a very important and essential emergency service in Saskatchewan and in the Southeast. So, we're very proud to be able to do this again," Marketing and Member Relations Manager Brooke Spagrud said.

Out of the $13,000 raised:

  • Co-Op sold 614 packages of STARS helicopter cookies
  • 56,000 litres of fuel was pumped on April 5 during Fuel Up Day, with 5 cents of each fuel transaction going to the charity
  • $8,000 in monetary donations and STARS card sales at their locations

"It's one of those emergency services where you don't have to speak to too many different people before you hear a STARS story whether you personally have a STARS story or you know somebody who had to use the service. In the rural southeast, we know that it takes a while for us to sometimes get to the help that we need when there's an emergency. So I think it's just one of those things where we can all agree it's a very important service to have and it's just one that we are very proud to get behind and help support," Spagrud added.

She thanked the community for their support in the cause this year.
