The nominees for the second annual Southeast Sask. Women of Distinction Awards were announced on Tuesday.

The awards are a reincarnation of the Women of Today Awards which had run for 21 years before COVID. This format also allows women from across the Southeast, to celebrate their accomplishments.

“We also had more nominees from the greater Southeast area, which is really good because we wanted to promote this event to Arcola, Carlyle, and Carnduff area,” said Becky Cassidy, chairperson of the awards.

One of the categories that has seen an expansion is the Young Visionary Award which has seven contenders this year.

“It means that there’s a lot of leaders coming up from high school who are going to be our future and we want to celebrate them for all they do,” said Cassidy.
